These enhanced features help reduce the cost of large format printing
In many ways, it’s a no-brainer to bring your large format printing in-house. You save time by printing on your own schedule and streamlining your quality-assurance process, and you no longer have to cover the price markups typical of outsourcing. On top of these and other savings via efficiencies, Canon imagePROGRAF printers have built-in features that help further manage the actual cost of printing.
Economy Print Mode is chief among these features. Especially useful if your workflow typically sees you printing drafts and check-plots, Economy Print Mode regulates and reduces ink consumption without significantly impacting output quality. Choosing the economy setting for all but your final, approved jobs not only minimizes your cost per print, it also results in less downtime due to faster overall print speed.
You can then optimize media usage and costs even more, thanks to Canon’s imagePROGRAF Accounting Manager. When enabled, this smart bit of software tracks a number of variables, including the amount of ink and media being used each time you print, as well as the time required to complete each job. Accurate to one thousandth of a millilitre or inch (for ink and paper, respectively), this data is exportable to an Excel-ready .csv file and can then be collated to determine your printing expenses based on cost of goods. The more you know about where you’re spending your money, the more easily you can take steps to save it!
